Food & Wine Festival ~ Out to Sea
Welcome to those of you joining me from Rolling with the Magic and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail."
If your Disney vacation plans bypass Walt Disney World this year (sniff!) or you want to continue the Food and Wine Festival goodness as you take to the high seas, you are certainly in luck! Disney Cruise Lines offers several different cooking demonstrations, wine pairings and tastings during each cruise.
On the classic ships (aka the Disney Magic and her sister ship the Disney Wonder), "Anyone Can Cook" is offered several times throughout the cruise. During a fun informative presentation, adults can learn how to prepare a new appetizer, entrée or dessert. Recipe cards are provided, as are samples of both the dish and a wine pairing.
If you have youngsters who are budding chefs, they offer a similar program in the clubs. Their project often results in chocolate chip cookies ready to eat rather than sea bass. No complaints from my children!
My favorite demonstration, by far, is exclusive to the longer cruises. Chef v. Chef provides an Iron Chef-esque throwdown. Complete with mystery ingredients, volunteers from the audience acting as sous chef and a panel of esteemed judges (again volunteers.)
Iron Chef Style Throwdown, complete with a mystery ingredient! |

ReplyDeleteYou're my go-to cruise girl, Lori! I love learning so much about Disney Cruise Line from you! This sounds like a fun event to participate in.
ReplyDeleteLove trying out all the food on the cruise and these demonstrations are very fun and well put together.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about this show! It sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I loved going to the "Anyone Can Cook" seminar on the Dream. We got to see and sample Apple Strudel.I haven't been brave enough to make it at home yet. Have you made something at home that you learned how to make during the seminar?
ReplyDeleteMostly we go to learn and enjoy the ambience but stick with vegan food for me.
DeleteWe have to plan some time for these events on our next cruise! Our son loves the Anyone Can Cook sessions!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, M&Ms. Apparently it made for a lovely reduction over pork tenderloin.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun!! I haven't been on a Disney cruise yet and this is another thing making me want to jump right on board!!
ReplyDeleteAh, I can't wait until the day we get to take a cruise. Until then, though, I love seeing your site and thank you for the great information!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun! We're looking forward to checking out some of the culinary events on our next Disney cruise.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to see if I can ditch my family for the 'Anyone Can Cook' demonstration! Sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteAre these events normally crowded? I don't know why we didn't take advantage of these on our last Disney Cruise. Seems like a GREAT session and the food is top notch on DCL.
ReplyDeleteRosanne @ The Disney Point
Nope, we can easily get a table by showing up right when the session starts!
