Independence day means celebrating America! Barbecue (barbeque or BBQ, depending on the region), family, fireworks, watermelons, swimming and general merriment abound. After a day or two, my family needs a little downtime, so we fall back on our favorite kid friendly movies about the revolution, patriotism and American apple pie nostalgia. Ten kid friendly films perfect for Labor Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July In no particular order: The Top Ten Family Friendly Fourth of July Movies   Ben & Me Passed The classic film short following the mouse behind the man. Inside Out ~ Meet the Little Voices Inside Your Head

Image
After spending all day Tuesday waiting out #TSBill, the rain cleared just enough for me to go brave minor flooding and meet up with a friend for a girl's night out. Our film of choice: Fathom events presentation of Insider Access to Disney Pixar's Inside Out. Not only would we get to watch the long awaited Pixar film, but enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Pixar studios. It's always nice to get some girl time and getting to view the latest Disney film uninterrupted was a real treat. As a Disney/Pixar fan, the tour before the film was worth the fathom ticket pricing. Meet the Little Voices Inside Your Head! Inside Out SPOILERS warning!!! If you don't want any spoilers, go watch the movie (bring Kleenex!) then come back. Joy is not the first Pixar character that made me both laugh and cry. (Frankly, between Up and Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 , the mere sight of the Pixar logo is something of a warning sign for me to double up on the Kleenex....

Disney Cruise Movie Night List | Disney Magic

Image
Just like any Disney fan would know that watching Cinderella at home before your trip makes that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom that much more breathtaking, there are a several movies that will enhance your experience of the Disney Magic. My list is below. Castaways please add on your own in the comments! Films I love to watch before a Disney Magic cruise: Peter Pan While Tinker Bell is the Disney Wonder's godmother, you'll find an entire section of the Oceaneer's Club devoted to this feisty fairy and her Pixie Hollow pals. Peter stars in Disney Dreams although his pirate ship is no longer moored in the Oceaneer Club. Beauty and the Beast Lumiere's, with it's lovely mural and rose chandeliers pays homage to the beloved bookworm and her misunderstood Beast. Belle also makes multiple character appearances around the ship and in the musicals. Cinderella If you are a little rusty on either the classic and you missed the excellent li...

Cinderella's Character | Quite a Story To Go With It

My Spoiler Free Review in a Nutshell for Disney's Cinderella 2015: Five Bibbidi Bobbidi Boos out of Five If you, your small children, your teens, your sons, daughters, husbands, wives, boyfriends or roommates enjoy this movie even a fraction of the amount my family did, it is well worth the price of admission. Not enough information? Continue below the picture for a more in depth look. Warning: Some possible slight spoilers below. A Different View of Cinderella? My kids joined me last Friday as we went to Star Cinema Grill (a local dinner at the movies establishment) for what I *hoped* would be an awesome princess movie. My daughter and I loved the trailers and hoped for a good solid movie if not pure magic. In all honesty, my son only agreed to go because he knew he could eat pizza and ignore the movie if he wanted to do so. I had some trepidations about the movie myself. Ahsoka goes to see Cinderella. (Christopher declined to create photographic evidenc...

Disney Cruise Movie Night List | Disney Wonder

Just like any Disney fan would know that watching Cinderella at home before your trip makes that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom that much more breathtaking, there are a several movies that will enhance your experience of the Disney Wonder. My list is below. Castaways please add on your own in the comments! Popcorn? Definitely! Films I love to watch before my Disney Wonder cruise: Peter Pan Aside from pirate night, did you know Tinker Bell is the Disney Wonder's godmother? Peter stars in Disney Dreams and his pirate ship is moored in the Oceaneer Club as an indoor playground as well. T he Little Mermaid Triton's, the elevator mural and the lobby statue of Ariel aside, the music and character appearances around the ship and in the musicals more than justify another trip Under the Sea. What would be on Ariel's Netflix queue? Splash? Probably. I bet The Secret of Roan Inish is on Ariel's top five as well. ...

Be Careful What You Wish For

I wish... more than anything... more than jewels... I wish... more than the moon... That it was Christmas so that I could watch one of my favorite musicals glow in the light of this new theatrical release. So that, as Kylee puts it, we can see the real story. (We love our DVD of the original Broadway production, but being a theatrical production, does look "staged" rather than "real." Hasn't stopped Kylee from watching it a dozen or so times, but still.) undefined on Disney Video After years of voting this on our, "I wish it were a major motion picture," list, many of my theatre friends seem (quite) put off that Bernadette Peters is not playing the witch (as she did in the original Broadway cast in 1987.) It seems my theatre friends who are upset may have forgotten all the wonderful high school and community theatre productions they either staged and starred in over the years. I haven't. They were wonderful, beautiful and heartbreaki...
