Finally Forty Four!

Image
Every few months, we take a minute at the end of our busy day to put Kylee in sneakers and stand her up against a measuring stick. She's been closing in on a Disney milestone and as of Sunday night, Kylee reached her long sought after mark. She's finally forty-four inches (and a smidgeon extra) tall! You know what that means... I'm going to Disney World!   That's right, she's tall enough to go on all of the "big kid" rides whenever we finally take her! (Which is sooner than she thinks, she is in the dark about our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort next month!) So why did I wait until she hit 44 inches? Last trip, at 40 (and a smidgeon) inches tall, she LOVED Star Tours. which had a forty inch height requirement... and this trip would be just me and my kiddos. Therefore, if I wanted to take my eight year old on Space Mountain or Mission Space Orange (his favorite ride last trip) I needed to either hire a sitter to mind Kylee...

Galavant

Winter season break becomes a little more magical for Oncers (fans of the ABC show Once Upon a Time.) Aside from my usual hanging on the #OAUT twitter tag for hints about the spring episodes, I can enjoy something fairytale with a lovely touch of the whimsical. Galavant boasts a score by musical phenomenon and Disney Legend Alan Menken (everything from The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast to Tangled ) and lyrics by Glenn Slater ( Tangled and the stage adaptation of The Little Mermaid ). "Huzzah And Tally-Ho! Sit Back And Here We Go!" Serious? I don't think so. Seriously fun? I'm betting on it! I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously and I'm definitely going to watch it. Will you be tuning in to see this offbeat musical epic adventure?

The Royal Treatment ~ R is for Random Roaming

I did end up getting up after a few hours or sleep to lock the sliding doors next to our bed in place as they would slide open and shut with the waves. I'd be unlocking them far before dawn. As Mom said in her blog , Kylee woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't quite settle back down with the (even more pronounced) ship movement in the middle of the night. I let Kylee cuddle up in the middle of our bed. Kylee wasn't scared. Much like the first time we hit turbulence in an airplane, the first time we hit rough water during a cruise, we made a game out of it. On an airplane this involved getting my two year old to put her hands over her head and yell "Whee!" everytime the plane dropped. On a ship, we watched for things around our stateroom and the ship doing strange things. Unfortunately, Kylee wasn't tired so rather than wake up for the day, we headed out for a walk around the ship (in hopes she would get tired out and be ready to head to sleep or...
