FastPass to History ~ The Accidental Cruise Guest
Hello FastPass to History Blog Hoppers!
Thank you, again, Frontierland Station for hosting this blog hop.
Much like the famous Main Street USA windows, each film reel table in Studio Sea represents a different person from Disney history...
Today's table?
So who is our Accidental Cruise Guest?
Tony Rimmer first started at Imagination as the Head of Architectural Lighting Design in October of 1994 in order to start the department that would design the original lighting for the launch of the first two Disney Cruise Line ships, the Magic and the Wonder.
So that means his team designed things like this:
After completing this project, Mr. Rimmer went on to work on other prestigious projects, eventually leaving Imagination to help grow Indigo Lighting Design and then start his own award winning business, Studio-29 Lighting Design.
Aside- I am particularly proud of this week's FastPass to history, as I located all of the information for it myself through the power of keen observation, curiosity and lots of Google.
Updated- I received a message from Mr. Rimmer. He did indeed work as the lighting designer of both the Magic and Wonder as an independent contractor, so that at least, is confirmed.

What a neat tribute to Tony Rimmer! The lighting on the Disney ships is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely compliment, thank you as it is nice to know that all that hard effort is appreciated and enjoyed by others - Tony
DeleteGood work tracking this all down. Love the lighting on the ships, they did an amazing job even with all the constraints of the ship. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOnce again thank you for the compliments about the lighting, it was certainly a challenge but I must say Disney were a dream to work with and their freedom to express one's imagination. Without doubt one of my most rewarding lighting projects on board was the transformation of a black and white restaurant to full colour with moving images and sound in Animators Palate. Tony
