It is reported that Johnny Depp added this line improvisationally during filming of The Pirate of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl.
Thankfully, they kept it. This slight misuse (in the movies, it is understood better as "got it?" or "clear?" than the traditional definitions) became one of Captain Jack's signature catch phrases.
Both peculiar and unique enough to fit his character, but still understandable and common sounding enough to not interrupt the flow of dialogue, it appears in all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
This isn't, of course, the first Disney movie to create a word (supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, anyone?)
After all the years of listening to colorful and expressive Disney turns of phrase, do you have a favorite word, saying or phrase?

For years, we avoided the whole Pirate franchise. Then, one day, I decided it was time to check out the first movie. Within a week, we owned all 4. We're Captain Jack fans. We finally got to meet him a few weeks ago. Yep, I was pretty much on cloud 9! Savvy?
