Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia ~ Never Tell Me The Odds
Welcome Tiggerific Tuesday Blog Hoppers!
Thanks again to Jodi from +Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Heidi from +Heidi's Head, and +Mike Ellis for co-hosting! On to the trivia!
The odds of becoming a lightning victim in the U.S. in any one year is 1 in 700,000.
The odds of being struck in your lifetime is 1 in 3,000.
Odds of dying (in the event you are struck by lightning) reduce to 1 in 10.
What are the odds of making it onto the Disney Parks Moms Panel in any given year?
Almost all adult guests are eligible to apply for the following year's panel (some restrictions apply). A published average 47,000 Magic Kingdom park guests daily, (source here). This doesn't include the guests visiting Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. They're eligible as well.
That is quite an applicant pool.
The applicant pool capped out at 14,000 applicants last year.
On the 2013 Disney Parks Moms Panel they took 19 new panelists.
Roughly 1 in 700 applicants made the panel.
So your odds of making it onto the panel in a given year are approximately three times better than being struck by lightning at some point in your lifetime.
Never tell me the odds.

I think I'll stick with Han Solo on this one. |

I've got the key on a string - waiting for the lightning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that encouragement, Lori! I made it to Round 2, too, and would much rather make the Panel than be struck by lightning! Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteLOL! What a fun bit of trivia for this week. I wonder, if we don't make the Moms Panel, if that makes our odds of being struck by lightning greater? You know, the whole "one out of two" thing?!
ReplyDeleteHeidi, I sure hope not! I'd guess that these are two (very!) independent events. Although after posting this, one of the ladies in the Facebook Moms Panel Hopefuls group admitted she HAS been struck by lightning. Who knows, maybe lightning will strike twice?
