Too early for Halloween Costumes?

If you are a fan of the Limited Edition Disney Store Exclusive Halloween costumes, it may not be too early.
During D23, the new Snow White Fairytale Designer dress costume for adults released in a limited edition of 100 (not a typo, just 100). This magically detailed costume, resplendent in golden embroidery on velvet, satin and sequins is available online through the Disney Store.

$349.95 (also unfortunately, not a misprint)

I love all the tiny embroidered details and will proudly don this gown for my Halloween 2014 cruise.
My birthday is in September.
Size 4.
Just saying.
Sadly they are already out of my size.

If you're more into leaving the fancy dress up clothes to your little princess, the Limited Edition Ariel also released (Limited Edition of 2500.) Last year, Kylee enjoyed her Limited Edition Rapunzel Wedding dress practically to death. The Limited edition, although $149.95, are beautifully finished and in our experience, have excellent finishing and are very sturdy. I might add that this is the first time they've managed to capture the feel of Ariel as a mermaid in a puffy ball gown style. Every year, we head to our local Disney Store to try on and review the dresses, so we'll get the opinion of my very own princess.

Limited Edition Rapunzel Wedding Dress on Formal Night
Relative to the last two years of Limited Edition dresses (Cinderella and Minnie Mouse, and before that, Rapunzel's wedding gown) which although exquisite and detailed, also were "very princess and puffy" in my tester's opinion.
Our reviewer found Ariel to be a mixed bag. "I couldn't run in this, but that's okay 'cause it's very sparkly." The skirt is quite narrowly cut to halfway down the thigh then flares out for a tail effect. "It's pretty when I twirl." For the first year ever, we had to go down in sizes to get a proper fit. The princess generally wears a 5 or XS in girls at Target, but this fit better in a 4 and the shoulders still droop the neckline quite a bit. If we bought it, I'd tack the straps shorter. Like the other limited editions, this dress closures, a hook and eye closure and a flat faced zipper, leave a beautiful smooth fitted effect to the dress.  This also means there is no way on earth a four year old could get it on and off by themselves. The locket on this year's model plays "Part of Your World." It also scores high on "not too itchy" points.

Mom, the locket plays music!!!
Obviously there are many other less elaborate costumes available at the Disney Store, if you've got a Rapunzel or a Cinderella instead of Ariel.
Our tester gave this year's Rapunzel all categories (twirl factor, sparkly-ness, itchiness, agility and ease of access) high marks. We'll wait a week or two and see if she picks that or Aurora.

The force is not with Captain America.
And Chris flat out refused to do more than a cursory super hero try on or two before insisting that he do the Jedi  thing instead.

Dress Up Rocks at any age
So what are your Halloween plans? Do any grownup princesses dress up or just the little princesses and pirates?

  1. I love Halloween! I cant wait to make my own costume and go out and celebrate. I'm looking to be a witch this year complete with broom and a pair of green colored contact lens.
