After what passes for alone time on a two kid, one parent trip to Walt Disney World...
|
Ahem. |
We headed off toward Frontierland for our "afternoon break." Rather than heading straight for Space Mountain like the kids suggested for their rest time, we headed toward the Liberty Belle Riverboat for a lazy afternoon cruise around the Rivers of America.
|
Very relaxing. |
Between a brief nap on the bench and a long time staring at the paddle wheel, we soon found ourselves on another form of river going vessel, the Becky Thatcher raft to Tom Sawyer island.
|
Fort Langhorn was a big hit. |
Running in and out of caverns, over barrel bridges and under escape passages and firing rifles at Fort Langhorn and generally whooping it up?
Yeah.
That's how my kids rest.
|
Watching the Liberty Belle paddle by. |
Chris and Kylee needed a nice cool snack to cool off from all of the spelunking.
|
That will do quite nicely! |
Feeling refreshed after their first Dole Whips, off we finally ran through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse (the kids wanted to do it again, but it's a lot of stairs to run twice in a row). We elected to skip the parade (just for today) and we ran over to Tomorrowland to try out Space Mountain with less of a wait time. After two times getting measured, off we went!
|
Hey Mikey, I think she likes it! |
Then it was time for a few thrilling rides...
|
It's going to be thrilling!
Time for the PeopleMover |
|
Tomorrowland Speedway |
|
Hands at ten and two! |
Watching Country Bear Jamboree with the kids is endlessly funny. They kept looking around like they were waiting for someone to hop out and tell them they were being punked. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room became a fast favorite and the kids walked out singing along. We ran into one of the other homeschool families from our hometown (who we didn't even know would be visiting WDW) at the Tiki Room and then ended up behind them in line for Pirates of the Caribbean.
At Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café, we met a charming cast member who asked the kids Disney trivia questions while we waited on our dinner and gave them Mickey straws for correct answers. The kids seemed pretty tired until after a few French Fries they perked back up.
|
Both kids got in on the act. |
Enchanted Tales with Belle was a big hit with both kids getting in on the act, Kylee as Mrs. Potts and Christopher as a dish.
|
Kylee wanted to meet Belle, Chris not as much. |
We took our leave of Belle with an hour to kill before the evening castle lights show. Now what on earth could we possibly do? We should probably snatch up some popcorn and snag a good spot on for fireworks.
After all how much could we really do in a little less than an hour?
With these kids?
You'd be surprised.
|
Mad Tea Party?
Yes. |
Barnstormer?
Yes.
|
Dumbo?
Yes. |
Meeting Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Donald Duck with virtually no waiting?
Yes.
Pete's Silly Sideshow emptied out and we took a quick restroom break before heading past the Mad Tea Party and around toward the central hub.
|
Just in time. |
Watching the castle lights was magical, but Chris requested to go back home. We stuck it out long enough to watch the start of Wishes and Tinker Bell's flight. Shortly thereafter, Kylee decided the story of Wishes were too scary. We headed up the walkways toward Main Street.
|
Kylee finally hit the wall when we reached the queue for the resort bus. |
A quick shuttle ride later...
Showers and pajamas and time to hop into bed.
