After hanging out on the verandah for a while, Ben headed out to retrieve Kylee from the Oceaneer Lab. (With less kids in the clubs on port days, Kylee doesn't like to hang around long. She loves dropping in, but she wants to leave after only an activity or two.)
|
Back out of the suite. |
Ben picked up Kylee for some daddy daughter time and a quick Cabanas lunch. As he sat looking out over the island, he started receiving texts. (Yay for US territories and our wireless plan!)
Pictures of blue water, tropical hills and beaches.
|
The house and pool from the opening scenes of almost every episode of Charlie's Angels. |
|
Yes, we were texting Ben pictures from our port adventure. |
Chris and I were back onboard the ferry and heading back to St. Thomas.
|
Hi Dumbo! |
The coolest part about pulling into the port on the ferry is that it drops off directly under the bow of the Disney Fantasy.
|
Pulling alongside the ship, you realize how gigantic they are in the scheme of things. |
|
See the person on the left edge of the picture? Yeah. |
After showing our Key to the World cards and photo IDs, Chris and I joined up with Ben and Kylee. Chris and I ate a quick lunch and then we all decided to head up to Goofy's Sports deck for a little mini golf.
|
The kids are still mastering the finer points of mini golf. |
After some late afternoon Mickey Bars, the kids headed into the (now more crowded) Oceaneer Lab. I pulled up my Kindle, a fruit tray from the concierge lounge and a recliner into a nice sunny spot on my verandah and alternated reading and napping for the rest of the afternoon.
|
I woke up from nap in time for Commodore Tom's evening announcement. |
It was time to get ready for dinner, except that we didn't particularly need to do anything to get ready.
The evening's requested dress?
Cruise casual, but we weren't going to need to worry about the
evening's dress code.
|
Then heading back out to watch as the Fantasy backed away into the setting sun. |
So Ben and I hung on the verandah for a while then went to extract the children for dinner.
|
Sunset and the lights coming on all over St. Thomas |
The kids showered quickly and changed into their pajamas. We'd all been up late watching Aladdin the evening before, so we decided to let the kids enjoy an evening in the suite watching movies and hanging around. One of the perks of the suite is that we can order full dinner from any of the table service restaurants.
Ben and I enjoyed a chat with Tracy earlier that day and scheduled to order in.
So at 6 pm on the dot with the kids curled up on the sofa in their fluffy slippers, a server walked in with a few courses of dinner...
This is Part 12 of an Ongoing Trip Report "A New Ship."
Additional sections will be found on the Trip Reports page after they are posted!
It looks like you had great weather for your day in St. Thomas. We had some rain showers. We left earlier from the island too, it was still light. It looks so pretty as you are pulling away and can see the lights on the island.
ReplyDeleteThe Fantasy looks huge! The Disney ships are so beautiful, I think they are my favorite ships on the sea! The pictures of ST. Thomas are gorgeous and I hope that we are able to make that port a stop sometime.
ReplyDeleteThe Fantasy seems much bigger than the classic ships, but I don't know how much of that is because our stateroom was top deck and all the way forward.
