A New Ship | Bobbing Along

After waking up bright and early and popping out on deck to watch the ship slide past other beautiful islands, Ben awoke as we pulled into port in St. Thomas.

I ducked into the lounge to fetch Chris and I some fruit and cereal bowls to eat in our suite, but had second thoughts about it and we ate on our verandah instead.

Could you really blame us?

Warning: This blog post may induce a sudden urge to drop everything and head for the U.S. Virgin Islands

Sixth cruise.
Six of me in the picture.
I'm not sure this practice is sustainable; getting six in the picture is hard!
Chris and I ate, slathered our arms and faces in sunscreen and reported to the Walt Disney Theatre. Despite getting to our tour group only a few minutes before our tickets, there is a fair amount of waiting and filing into groups as they assign stickers to the various passengers to try to keep us all heading in the right direction.

Off on an adventure. BRB.
Finally our group was called and headed down to the gangway and stepped onto the pier.

Meanwhile, back on the ship, Kylee decided she wanted to spend the morning swimming, so Ben threw a dress over her swimsuit and off they headed for a quick breakfast.in Cabanas.

Off to seek food! And climb on the exterior of the ship.
Kylee enjoyed some eggs and a peanut butter bagel in the semi-empty buffet. Kylee picked a far corner table so that she could see the island better. After breakfast, they considered the Mickey pool, but Kylee wanted Daddy to swim too. Off to the hot tub they went!

The verandah hot tub is pretty awesome.
Then they showered off and Kylee headed to the kids club.

Meanwhile, back on the shore...

St. Thomas and St. John
By the way, the ship is enormous.
Chris and I followed our group away from the shore and to the far end of the pier. We boarded a two story ferry and, after a brief, funny safety briefing, headed out across the water to St. John.

Looking for sea life from the second story.
Our ship host kept up a running commentary and history about the islands, pirates, politics and life in the Virgin Islands for the forty-five minute ride.

Sun-bleached stars and stripes.
After we left the shelter of St. Thomas, the seas set us bobbing along on our ferry ride, but it made the ride "super fun and exciting" for Chris, so it kept him occupied.

St. Thomas and St. John
Bright, turquoise water on every side.
After dozens of tiny out islands and tons of the big blue, er, turquoise. St. John slid into view.

Meanwhile, back on the ship...

Ben left Kylee at the club for a little while and wandered the ship trying to get a feel for the adult areas. It is much different than the layout of the classic ships.

While he wandered around, Kylee hung out in Andy's Room (the Toy Story part of the Oceaneer Club) for a while until her lunch arrived. She decided she did not want to eat the allergy free meal they picked up for her so shortly thereafter Ben showed up to take Kylee to the concierge lounge for her much beloved non-dairy hot chocolate with Mickey Sprinkles, courtesy of  Miss Julia.
