The Royal Treatment ~ R is for Rapunzel

Mom still enjoyed her beauty rest, so we headed off to see if Kylee cared to try to draw Goofy. She already caught the Lava Flow activity on the first sea day so she agreed. Chris preferred to continue to keep on in the lab. We caught the first few heats of Jack-Jack's Diaper Dash (baby racing will never cease to be amusing) then headed off to Animator's Palate for our animation class.

Our Goofy Drawings
After getting a little goofy during our animation class, we kept Kylee for a little longer and went to see if Diana was ready to join the land of the living. Amazed as she was to discover it was early afternoon, we all headed off to Parrot Cay for lunch.
The highlight of our afternoon, the matinee of Dreams. We gathered Christopher first, then headed into the Walt Disney Theatre. At this point, Ben started the watch. Basically I love this show so much that it's not so much a matter  of if I cry during as a question of how many times and if I make it through the opening lines without tearing up.
"This has all happened before and it will all happen again, but tonight it will happen to Anne Marie and a friend."
And that's about as far into it as I get without crying.
If you happen to be onboard, and a matinee is offered, the crowd is usually fairly light. Afterwards, both kids headed in to the Oceaneer Club for some last afternoon fun. Ben and Diana and I headed down to the Promenade Lounge for our third go at trivia, this time it was Disney movie trivia. Teaming up with Chris and Casey, we swept through these questions with only two that we needed to guess on.
Three for three!
As we waited for our reward (this time, 2014 DCL Calendars) I suddenly realized that we had somewhere to be...

The Royal Treatment
All set with an adorable tea set very reminiscent of Mrs. Potts in coloring.
(Do you remember those Disney Friends Tea Party tickets Glenn dropped off the other day?)
Yeah.
So I double timed it to the club and used my most patient hopping foot to foot to wait in line and retrieve Kylee.
We made it there, were escorted in, announced as Princess Kylee and friends, seated at a table right by a rather drafty service door and served cookies and apple juice. One of the hosts hurried off to fetch Kylee a non-dairy dessert.

The Royal Treatment
How do you take your tea?
Kylee had plenty of time to pour each of us an apple juice, because each guest continued to get individually announced and seated. After twenty minutes (and when the arrival of the "Disney Friends" had to be imminent) Kylee announced she needed to use the restroom (of course). So we hastened to the restrooms.
Hurrying around the atrium in full on potty dance mode, Kylee skidded to a halt at the elevator bank.

The Royal Treatment
Just hanging out by the elevators.
Donald is one of Kylee's favorites.
(Mickey and Minnie and Donald and Daisy and Rapunzel and Belle and Beast and Elsa and Anna are all her favorites. She's very generous with her favoritism.)

Picture caught between potty dances.
After a few pictures, Kylee asked Donald where the rest rooms were. He answered with his very own duck potty dance and his friend pointed Kylee just past the elevators to the ladies room.
We skidded into Studio Sea just as the host warmed up the crowd to offer a warm welcome to the first of our hostesses...Princess Rapunzel.

The Royal Treatment
Rapunzel lets us know about napkin etiquette.
After a five minute explanation of napkin etiquette (not nearly as funny as the Mad Tea Party on the Magic) she welcomed her friend Tiana to the party and the host explained that the princesses would be circulating in the dining room, but that no pictures or autographs would be offered until after they were done with meet and greets at the backdrop in the rear of the room.
After ten minutes of Kylee picking at the allergy free chocolate sponge mini bundt (our fourth or fifth serving) Kylee stared in awe at Rapunzel's braid as she greeted the table next to us.
"Mom," she whispered loudly, "it's the REAL Rapunzel. Look at her hair!"
Kylee clammed up once Rapunzel turned her attention on us, but Rapunzel got down on Kylee's level and asked her about her day. Kylee went on about how she would be on stage for Friendship Rocks! and Rapunzel said how exciting it sounded, as she had never been on a stage. Kylee loved talking to Rapunzel.
After Rapunzel turned her attention to the next table, Kylee decided against waiting for Tiana to reach our side of the studio and instead head off for the Friendship Rocks! rehearsal she had been telling Rapunzel about moments before. It was a nice way to get to meet two of the princesses without waiting for the Princess Gathering, but I don't think it is on our "must do" list like "Tea with Alice" on the Magic. I was very glad that we did not try to bring Chris and Ben as this is purely a princess thing and not geared to be fun/funny for boys in the least.

  1. I love those surprise meetings with characters. Sometimes a potty break at the worst time can be the best time! That's so sweet her comment about Rapunzel and her hair. What a cutie pie!
