The Royal Treatment ~ R is for Rice Krispy Treat

While we watched the last sodden passengers make their way up the pier, Kylee changed into her pirate garb for the evening.
The rest of us decided to attend the concierge reception as we were and prepare for pirate night afterwards. Arriving to Route 66 early in our enthusiasm, we hung around and took some porthole pictures during our time waiting.

Watching the waves roll into Cozumel

The Royal Treatment
I could have sworn that the window seats were deeper on the Magic around here.

Chris and Kylee took a shot at taking our photos in a porthole as well.

The Royal Treatment
Hmmm. We're a little blurrier than I remember.
Finally it was time to head in to the concierge reception.

The Royal Treatment
Diversions was all ready!
Our concierge Glenn, circulated, checking if there was anything we needed and double checking that everyone knew the deck party would be held in doors due to rain.
Waiters passed complimentary drinks and a buffet was served.

The Royal Treatment
Including Fruit, Chicken Kabobs Veggies and a Shrimp Boat
and lest we forget, Mickey Krispy Treats!

The Royal Treatment
All the Mickey Rice Krispy Treats you can eat...
In what became a running gag of the evening, everytime we turned around, Kylee had talked another waiter out of a new fruity, girly drink (all non-alcoholic).

The Royal Treatment
Both those drinks are hers.

The Royal Treatment
Also Kylee's
While Kylee drank girly drinks to her hearts content, Chris contented himself by ruining his dinner with a ton of Mickey Krispy Treats.

Mickey Rice Krispies
He was THRILLED with the Mickey Rice Krispy Treats.
After Ben and Chris polished off a few Mickeys, Daisy swung by to say hi!

The Royal Treatment
Kylee's quacky favorite.
Chris decided he'd rather take a picture of Daisy than get in a picture with Daisy.

The Royal Treatment
Daisy obliged.
One of the officers stopped by for a little to speak with all of us and then it was time to get into our pirate duds.

Pirates ready for pirate dinner!
Though the ship motion picked up as we headed out to sea, it wasn't too bad yet.

The Royal Treatment
Actually, both sides say the same thing.
Deck four was closed for high winds, so rather than waiting in the queue for Animator's Palate (we were early, again) we swung by the main atrium to see if we could get a picture with Mickey or Minnie. Their lines were cut off, but both kids were thrilled to get to meet Peter Pan.

The Royal Treatment
Peter's one of Kylee's favorites because of Disney Dreams and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
Once sitting down at our table for dinner, both Diana and Ben mentioned the motion of the ship.

The Royal Treatment
Kylee was bored and full. A bad combination for dinnertime.
Because Kylee couldn't be bothered with the whole eating thing, she decided a trip to the restroom was in order.

The Royal Treatment
Three times. Before dinner was served. Because she was bored.
I eventually asked her if she'd like to take some pictures just so I could chill with the up and down.

The Royal Treatment
Me. Courtesy of Kylee and a completed coloring book.
Then Ben asked her if she could smile like mommy. Producing this:

The Royal Treatment
Oh my.
So I asked if we could do crazy faces.

The Royal Treatment
What?

The Royal Treatment
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The Royal Treatment
What do you mean "out of Mickey Bars"?
I was thrilled to see another serving of vegetable curry, along with the stir fry tofu and vegetables that I ordered for the evening. (It had only been perhaps fifteen minutes, but it seemed much longer due to K being pretty well done.)
Especially given that someone decided they'd like to take my stir fry off of my hands.

The Royal Treatment
Not that I'd name names...
Ben and Mom both felt the motion pretty much by now so we all doubled up to the suite to let them enjoy a dose of Dramamine while I took the kids downstairs to brave the Pirates in the Caribbean Party, indoor style.

We camped out right behind the ropes at midship thirty minutes before the scheduled show time after running everyone by the restrooms just in case.

The Royal Treatment
Just hanging out with hundreds of our closest friends!
I got to talking to the mom next to me and we all agreed that we should give everyone a free pass of stumbling into each other because the swaying started to make some bumping inevitable.

The Royal Treatment
Hi!!!
About fifteen minutes until the show, deck three already felt filled in and above us on four, Chris and Casey appeared!

Five minute until show time and even decks four and five filled in.

pirate night atrium crowd
Wow.
The Royal Treatment
Please scoot back everyone!
After scooting everyone back another time, the music swelled, the lights changed and Kylee announced that right this minute she needed to go to the bathroom.
The lady I'd been talking with said she'd try to hold our spot as well as she could and we ran up to deck four (the closest restroom.) Making our way back to our spot went relatively smoothly, except for one lady who thought I knocked into her intentionally (I blame ship motion, but apologized).

The Royal Treatment
Back to our spots!
After about ten minutes of party, sweat running down my back, too crowded to dance even the most basic of steps Chris turned and asked me if he could go to the lab. I figured that that would be the best option for everyone. Normally, it's like pulling teeth to get him to leave the deck party, but this just simply didn't recapture that experience for us. I really think they ought to consider cancelling the pirate party outright or adapting it to the Walt Disney Theatre. It simply does not work well in the atrium space. Reaching the Oceaneer Club was difficult in and of itself (crowds all along the railing watched the party continue below.) Kylee headed into the sanctuary of the Club and Chris retreated to the Lab.
I went back to our stateroom to check on Mom and Ben.

The Royal Treatment
I shall name you Tick Tock Crocodile!
I adored our towelgami crocodile.

The Royal Treatment
63 knots? That isn't that bad, is it?
What is that in mph?
FYI 72.5 MPH
Ben and mom discussed the creaking noise and the shifting motion of the ship and prepared to head to bed. I went to go retrieve the kids and put them to bed as well, letting the wind and waved rock them to sleep.
I always sleep so well in weather at sea.
Good night!

  1. What waiter could refuse Kylee a drink (or 3 or 4) when she looked that adorable? You all looked great in your pirate garb. However Peter Pan looks a little more buff than I remember. :) We got rerouted to Cozumel on our honeymoon due to a hurricane so I remember the rocking and the creaking of the ship. It reminded me of the Titanic.

  2. Your family is too cute...love the Pirate gear! I've never seen the Pirates party moved indoors, very interesting...and I can only imagine how crowded that space was! Great recap of the day, looks like fun! We leave for the Magic in just a few weeks, can't wait!
