Shorts Saturday ~ Italian for Pole

Image
Welcome Blog Hoppers to The Adventures in the Great Wide Somewhere "Shorts Saturday" Blog Hop for the week of November 9, 2013. Every week, I host this link up blog hop to let all Disney bloggers share a short and sweet version of their Disney love as we answer Disney related questions. I'd love for you to grab the button and link up your post! We all love comments, so half the fun is visiting each other's blogs and commenting on their thoughts. For more details, see the bottom of this post or the Shorts Saturday tab at the top of the page.   Our Shorts Saturday prompt this week is "My Favorite Restaurant < 50 words"  Want unparalleled and unstuffy service in an intimate “adults only” setting? You want Palo. This romantic restaurant serves a delicious menu prepared by chefs who will create vegan off-menu dishes even my carnivore husband craves. Almost outshining the panoramic ocean views, my favorite server, Sylvester treats me like a princess...

I am thankful for Dori.  She not only welcomed us into our church home when we tried out for the dinner theatre, but accepted us and helped us to feel at home when we were complete newlywed goofballs! Also she got Ben into drama. So there's that. get the InLinkz code

Foodie Friday ~ OceanSpray Craisins

Image
Welcome Foodie Friday Blog Hoppers! Ocean Spray Craisins Location: Popcorn Stand, Future World West, Epcot Cost: $2.25   Sometimes we encourage our children to try new and foreign cuisine to expand our palates. Sometimes we go for gourmet and unusual tastes on vacation. After touring all morning, when  Kylee goes through a rare grumpy spell is not one of those times. This is when I am glad that the popcorn in all of Walt Disney World is vegan (coated in a lovely "butter flavor" oil). My nondairy princess would usually partake, but as the afternoon proved to become a bit warm and muggy, hydration and a cool snack was in order.   Craisins even make being to short to ride Mission: SPACE a happy event. I did not want to ply her with sugar (a quick route toward a crash later in the afternoon). Inspiration struck in the form of one of her favorite sweet snacks from home that are easily available at many of the snack stands around Walt ...

I am thankful for all my friends!   Those who I talk to everyday and who fill my children's emergency contact forms.   Those I go months without seeing but are there for a quick text or chat and pickup like no time passed at all. Those who know my past and those who are open to listening. Those who love me and let me love them as naturally as breathing. Those who challenge me. Those who see the best in me even when I can't see it. Those who do not let me settle for being "good enough" but expect me to grow. Those who share my interests and hobbies and loves and causes.    Those who stay friends even though we're dissimilar as twilight and dawn. Those who can accept the goofy and serious with equal companionship. Those who just pass the time as we supervise the kids on the playground. Those who are a beautiful mess, unpretentious and refreshingly honest. Those who hope and dream unapologetically. New friends and old friends...

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia ~ Cinderella Castle Urban Legend

Image
Welcome Tiggerific Tuesday Blog Hoppers!   Thank you again  to our hosts, Magical Mouse Schoolhouse , My Dreams of Disney , Heidi's Head and Disney Babies Blog . Did you know that although Cinderella Castle cannot be taken apart during a hurricane? Despite the recurring urban legend, this Magic Kingdom landmark sits tight during hurricanes and rides out the storm in it's usual location. Actually, Cinderella Castle was built to withstand hurricane force winds above 110 miles per hour, Myth only. It would take weeks to disassemble and a huge crane. The interior of the castle is composed of steel and concrete while the exterior is coated in a fiberglass reinforced gypsum plaster. In other words, it isn't going anywhere.

I am thankful for my princess.   My pixie. She's taught me how brave and strong and girly can go together. Also that it is possible to climb up a pole in a tutu. She keeps me on my toes. #28DaysofThanksgiving get the InLinkz code

Fairytale Photos ~ Everyday Magic

Image
I think that the magic of a Disney vacation exists in three wonderful parts: the dreaming of planning, the pixie dust moments during trip itself and the memories you take with you for years to come. Since I can't live in the Cinderella Castle Suite or even on property year round, pictures help bring a bit of the fairytale back into my everyday life. In my enthusiastic pursuit of remembering the Magic, I take hundreds of my own pictures every vacation and hope to share a bit of my experience with you. As the pixie dust settles it is sometimes hard to remember that sometimes magical moments take place everyday. Not just birthdays or parties but every single day. Those little moments. The rests and preparations that help us enjoy the Tuesdays and Thursdays and bland stretches of time while we're patiently waiting between red letter days. Hence everyday photography. I use all sorts of events and non-events to practice photography so that red letter days can be a li...

Couples Only Cruise ~ So Close and Yet

Image
Yay! Embarkation! Chris’ phone rang and he checked the caller ID. The call came from out of state and since he did not recognize the number, he ignored the call. We finished our Starbucks and walked back up the street to drive the van over to EZ Cruise. Since we had watched the ship dock and seen a few parking shuttles pass us, we hoped to be able to park at EZ Cruise and head over to board the ship around noon (an hour after our port arrival time, as instructed by the earlier phone call from Disney.) My phone rang just as we headed off to EZ Cruise again and DCL recommended all cruisers delay arrival by two hours from original port arrival times. All of us looked at each other and decided to drive around the island to look at the Gulf side and see what kind of fog we were facing. Driving around Galveston during Mardi Gras season is…interesting…to say the least. The roadside puddles still glittering from the previous evenings discarded beads and trinkets as we drove across the is...
