Let's imagine for a second that you wake up five minutes from now to find yourself on a Disney Cruise ship. How can you tell which one you are on? You could just ask one of the cast members, but where is the fun in that? Thinking back to the art of the theme show tour , you remember that the different ships embrace one of two differing art styles. That'd narrow it down to fifty-fifty on your guess of ship, and that's good enough for me. Can you guess or remember what art styles the ships pull their themes from? I'll get to that answer in a bit.  Much like the way that Main Street USA hearkens back to an idealized version of 1910 mid-western Main Streets of Walt Disney's childhood, the exterior look of all of the Disney fleet draw from that  golden age of the ocean line...

This past weekend, a new app appeared in the iTunes app store that I quickly scooped up. The Disney Fantasy Navigator . Currently described as "Disney Fantasy - Navigator is available for use while aboard the Disney Fantasy only during the September 7 and September 14 sailings." I am hopeful that this will become another permanent addition to cruising. After playing with it, the free app currently has limited use shore side, but promises to be chock full of useful information when hooked into the ship's intranet through the "DCL-Guest" Wi-Fi network. A similar app launched for the Android as well. Friendly mouse-keeping reminder! Please remember to put your iPhone into airplane mode then turn on Wi-Fi. Forgetting to turn your smart phone on airplane mode can ad will result in hefty cellular data charges via the "cellular at sea" tower. Double check.  Triple check. I'm not even kidding. As it says here on the Disney Cruise Line website, ...

On a whim, Ben and I headed off to Palo to head to meet up with the adults only “Art of the Theme Show Tour.” Although this tour started in Palo, no dressing up is required and as it is a one hour walking tour, I recommend comfortable shoes. Do you have your sneakers laced up? We took a seat here and waited for the tour to commence. Palo waiting area Palo seating...does anyone else see a profile of Mickey Mouse eyes and nose and glove in this, or is it just me? Venetian Masks Lining the walls It proved to be entertaining, fascinating (I love all the little details they pointed out at the time) and funny at points. I did not take any pictures at the time…but here is my brief summary for those of you who missed it and want to know what details are covered. Walt Disney originally started the first art of the theme tours in Disneyland to show how the imagineers thought about all the details during designing. Palo means pole in Italian. Note the Venetian Murano blow...

I have never...as a kid on my first afternoon of sleep away camp those words opened the door to a whole world of friendships and revelations. There are simply a load of things I have never ever done or hope to do. For the sake of brevity, we're going to stick to Disney and for the sake of my wrists and fingers, we'll be limiting today's post only to amusements available at sea aboard the Disney Cruise Line. And because of the expansive nature of these vessels, I will focus in on only the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder or as they're known, the classic ships. Disclaimer!!!
