Three Mouseketeers | Side Tracks

Image
The three mouseketeers took our brand new Senior Wilderness Explorer badges and hopped a bus to Magic Kingdom. Faith, trust and Pixie Dust! We swung by Town Hall to meet Tinker Bell courtesy of a FastPass+ then mixed in our first ride on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin to "de-girl-ify" the afternoon. Then I got to pick the next ride, so Carousel of Progress! The kids enjoyed the surprise (as they had no knowledge of the ride going in) but they liked it. Kylee in the Rose Garden We headed back to Main Street, U.S.A. to meet Mickey (our second FastPass) then wait for our last FastPass, reserved viewing for the Festival of Fantasy parade. But first snacks! As much as I'm a Dole Whip purist, everyone must visit the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for a parade snack. Waiting with his (regular) ice cream cone until his sister received her special dairy free cone? So sweet. Thankfully we planned a little extra time for Kylee's ice cream cone an...

Hibernating and Other Summer Fun | Homeschool Diaries

Image
Sonlight is having a monthly blog linkup this year, in honor of their 25th anniversary. Find out how we decided to homeschool in the February hop and my best advice for new homeschoolers in March and in April shared a day in the life of my homeschool . Last month, I admitted complete ignorance to the whole convention scene and instead blogged about our summer reading list (so far). Now for June's prompt: Share your favorite summer reading and learning activities . Ah, the lazy days of summer... CAUTION: Three consecutive weeks of swim lessons may induce napping. or not as much, in our case. One of the many perks of homeschool is that when it is center of the sun hot (which in Texas, can stretch from June well into September) we hibernate. Now since we don't live in a cave (or under a rock) hibernating is quite pleasant and even dare I say fun in it's on way. What do we do to hibernate? Read. Lots. Which means our library card gets quite the workout (as can ...

How to Skip the Crowds | Disney Cruise Line 101

Image
One of the biggest advantages of a Disney Cruise Line vacation is that you can meet the princesses, enjoy water slides and soak up the Disney magic almost without waiting in lines. Almost. What if you wanted to avoid almost every crowd or line on your fantasy vacation? Wow! Can I get my other two wishes, too? That dream can come true too! 1.) Timing is Key This is a simple tip of being where everyone wants to be (on the Aquaduck, visiting Mickey Mouse and boarding the ship) when all the other people are doing something else. Embarkation For boarding day, you select a port arrival time somewhere between 10 AM and 3:30 PM. If you show up with the crowds before boarding the ship begins (between 11 AM and noon) there can be a bit of a back up at the check-in desks and at the very least crowds. Show up before your selected port arrival time? I wouldn't recommend it. While Galveston enjoys plentiful seating, the terminal itself is bare bones. At Port Canaveral...
