The Royal Treatment | A Tale of Two Ships

Image
Welcome to this month's Magical Blogorail Blue loop. Today we are sharing what you can expect from some of the club level experiences at Disney Resorts and on the Disney Cruise Line. Have you ever dreamed of cruising concierge? What about in the royal suite? Last year offered up a boatload of moms panel excitement , trip planning high spirits, beginning of  homeschool jitters and also a ridiculous amount of pixie dust magic! Toes in the wind and off on an adventure! In January, our family cruised in the Walt Disney Suite on the Disney Wonder to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and our daughter's fifth birthday. Then in November, we upgraded at port to the Walt Disney Suite on the Disney Fantasy. Just for fun. (TONS of pixie dust, y'all!) So what's the difference between one royal suite and another? The Disney Wonder Disney's classic ships, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder feature nearly identical Royal Suites. Located on deck ...

A New Ship | Kisses and Castaways

Image
Kylee and I parted ways with Ben and Chris in front of Mount Rustmore. As the sun began to lower behind our friends. Kylee cried for a minute or two when she realized Ben and Chris wouldn't be at the cabana the remainder of the afternoon. Then she realized that meant she got a whole cabana almost entirely to herself. Yes, Chris went back to the ship without his sneakers. Boys. I told her she could play in the sand for a bit while I gathered up the remainder of our sandals and scooped them into our beach bag. Everything ready for our last minute departure of the cabana, with the exception of our IDs in the room safe. I laid out our dry clothes and towels so that once we were good and dry we could take the time to get redressed to go back to the ship. I decided to pop out on the porch, let Kylee swim and I could snap some pictures. So peaceful. See how they are drilling with the lifeboat at midship? Unfortunately this is when everything fell apart. Almos...

A New Ship | Palo in Pajamas

Image
Since this was the kiddos fourth cruise, they fully understand that Palo is a place just for moms and dads. A very special place that they look forward to visiting on their cruises after their birthdays. When we let them know that they could try Palo, just because of our lovely concierge hosts, they were *very* excited. Chris, despite starting to have a hoarse throat (Long nights? Kids clubs? Air travel?), could hardly contain his excitement as he has heard tell of the legendary Palo chocolate soufflé . Starters, Saladas, Antipasti, Breads and Risotto Our server brought in all of the appetizers, salads and starters at one time and promised to return with the main course and finally the desserts. The chef split the antipasti onto a plate of meats and cheese (or as the server said, this one is not for the vegans) and one of olives, pickled vegetables and artichokes. Two salads had been sent for Kylee and I while Ben and Chris mixed and matched from the risotto and the mozzarell...

A New Ship: Second Terrarium

Then I look up and really start to take in the lobby with not a little bit of shock. The atrium on the Fantasy is huge and elegant and very impressive. The "we're not in Kansas anymore" faces. Thankfully a cast member spotted us and rather than heading out to Cabanas or Enchanted Garden for lunch, we were escorted to the forward elevator bank to take us straightaway up to the concierge lounge for a bit of a snack. On the elevators opening, we got our first peek at the lounge. Ahhh. All dark wood, and animation maquettes of Remy, Minnie and friends and a model of the Fantasy. We met Julia right away and she wanted to get right to work starting a personal itinerary for us. She suggested we grab some snacks off of the snack boards and catch some sun up on the concierge sun deck since all the tables in the lounge were occupied. The concierge terrarium sun deck. What a relaxing space! Kylee enjoying a lounger. The only time we ever saw more than tw...
